Hello All,
I thought I would give a brief update on what I am planning for students in the first few weeks of this coming semester.
As the last semester unfolded it became apparent to me that students who have volunteered their time to projects within the students’ union didnt get the proper recognition they deserved for all the hard work they do. As a result of this I spent time researching ways in which I could get the volunteers the deserved recognition. I found a scheme called Investing in Volunteers which is a nationally recognised standard that recognises volunteers work and is fantastic for the CV, thus increasing our volunteers employability. I think you will all agree this is a great opportunity for people to better their CV’s and increase their employability chances which is going to be essential in this current economic climate. Work towards gaining this scheme has already begun and i will keep everyone up to date on the progress.
Give it a Go resumes for the second time this year on the 1st of February for another 2 week block details of the events will be going on the Students’ Union website soon so check it out!! (www.uclansu.co.uk)
The sports ball venue has been booked and now the final preparations are being put into place to pull the event together. The preparation for the societies end of year social will soon be underway bringing the members of our societies together to show our appreciation for the hard work they put into their groups and the members.
This is what is in the pipeline for the next few weeks i will update you all on the new developments as they arise.
Thanks

Ladies and Gentlemen of UCLan let me take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new year for 2010!!
If the new year and decade is going to be like the way it started, let me tell you we are all in for a treat!! Im sure many of you celebrated the new year in a good way, let me tell you so did I!!
It has been the tradition for many years to go out or celebate the new year coming on new years eve. This is usually the way i have done it with many of my friends and family. This year saw a different approach and it was decided to celebrate on the first day of the new year/decade.
This day saw Laidback Luke arrive in the North West to play a rare set at Sankeys in Manchester, and let me tell you what a set it was!! If this set is anything to base a new year on let me tell everyone this year is going to be amazing. The way one person can bring such a diverse set of people together is commendable.

Im sure there is going to be many more good times for all this year especially with developments in the Students’ Union there is alot of exciting events coming up this year that everyone should get involved with.
I look forward to seeing everyone again this year see you soon

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of all ages……….
I would just like to inform all the members of the SU clubs that the Sports Ball venue has now been confirmed and booked!! Another exciting prospect this year is that we are going to hold an after party at 53 degrees!!!
And then who can forget the legendary Sunday after…………… Survivor Sunday will again be happening at Source Bar.
The date for this fabled legendary night is the 20th of March so put it in your diaries!!
This year is going to see the Sports Ball take on more of an awards style evening so that dress or tux will have to look the sharpest it ever has!!
We are looking at getting tickets on sale for the first week back in January so there is chance for students to gather the money for the ticket in time. The price is still yet to be confirmed but as soon as we know everyone will.
